What is Concealer?

Choosing the Right Concealer for Your Skin

How to Apply Concealer

Before you begin the process of applying concealer to your face, ensure that your skin is nice and clean! By cleaning and exfoliating first, you’re removing dead skin cells that clog pores and prevent makeup from being applied easily to the skin.

After exfoliating, moisturize your skin to hydrate and smooth out your skin even further. Some moisturizers contain SPF, offering protection against sun damage throughout the day, too.

Next, apply makeup products like primer and foundation. Applying face makeup before concealer helps give you a smooth base to work with.

Next, blend and dab concealer using your ring finger or a concealer brush under your eyes. Don’t smear or drag the concealer, as this will create creasing. Using your ring finger is advised because it’s generally considered the weakest finger on your hand. Because of that fact, you won’t end up applying too much pressure when applying the concealer around your eye.

After concealing around the eyes, move on to blemishes and pimples. Apply the concealer onto the spot, then again use your ring finger or concealer brush to blend the area until the dark spot is no longer visible. After these spots have been addressed, apply concealer to your nose or any areas of redness, using the same methods with a brush or the ring finger.

Lastly, when you’re done with the concealer, set the look in place with powder. Be sure to remove excess powder once you’re done applying it.
